Online Therapy to help Insomnia Sufferers

When I started The Insomnia Clinic one of my biggest issues was that there was only so many sessions I could offer as there was only one of me! To try and combat this issue I trained more therapists and for a while this worked well. However, as the clinic has grown and the issue of poor sleep certainly hasn’t got less, I was still finding there was so many people who we couldn’t be helped as they lived just too far away.

At that point we introduced sessions via Zoom. I was cynical at first as I have never enjoyed doing therapy via the telephone so assumed the computer would be similar however, over the years, we have seen absolutely no difference in results between face to face or online treatment. When I did my first few online appointments I was amazed at how quickly you can build a bond with someone without being in the same room and very quickly I felt as though I knew them just as well as if we were sitting next to each other.

This has transformed the way we work as we now have no limit to how many people we can help, even those in other countries can now benefit. As there are still very few trained insomnia specialists in the UK, and in fact the world, this option has become hugely popular.

CBT for insomnia is now recognised across the globe as being the best way to tackle poor sleep and GP’s and Sleep Clinics are calling for better access. A recent study published in the British Journal of General Practice has examined the results of 13 previously conducted studies on the provision of CBT for insomnia.

The results showed that CBT for insomnia was effective and led to long term improvement in sleep in terms of time taken to fall asleep and also time awake during the night. CBT for insomnia also helps people to worry less about poor sleep and unlike sleeping pills, is a long term cure rather than a short term sticking plaster.

By offering the service online we are now accessing and offering people all over the globe so if you are suffering with poor sleep, you no longer need to accept it!
